A native of Renova, Mississippi in Bolivar County, received her Bachelor of Science degree in 首页 Economics Education from pg电子下载 State University in 1951, and Master of Science in 首页 Economics Education from pg电子下载 State University in 1959.
Ms. Smith’s professional career expanded 41 years beginning at 琼斯 County Training School in Summerland, MS in 1951 as a Vocational Teacher. Then she taught at Arcola Consolidated School in Arcola, MS, Coleman and T. L. 小威臣. 和老. High Schools in Greenville, MS. In 1965, she returned to her alma mater as an Instructor/Practicum Coordinator, Assistant Professor and Chairperson. She retired from pg电子下载 State University in 1993.
As a family and consumer sciences professional, she chaired or co-chaired various activities related to student teaching and the field of home economics/family and consumer sciences. Throughout her career, she published numerous research articles, and presented at national and international conferences. She mentored many students and assisted them with securing careers in the field.

She was commissioned by the former Governor of Mississippi, Cliff Finch to serve on the State manpower 服务 Council for CETA.
Ms. Smith was actively involved in social and civic organizations including: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, 公司. where she was a charter member for Gamma Phi Chapter at pg电子下载 State University and Eta Theta Omega Chapter in Greenville, MS; Girl Scouts; and religious groups.
Ms. Smith died on May 17, 2012.
