ACQUISITIONS DEPARTMENT

The Acquisitions Department’s mission is to build, develop, organize, preserve, and maintain a high-quality collection of library materials that supports the University’s instructional, research, and public service needs.

The Acquisitions Department is responsible for acquiring the materials selected for the library’s collection, including books, periodicals, audiovisuals, microforms, and electronic resources.

Acquisitions collaborate closely with other academic departments, librarians, the Library Advisory Committee, and faculty to develop the library’s collection in alignment with the University’s teaching, research, and service priorities. The Acquisitions Department is located on the library’s first floor.

There are several ways to submit recommendations for library materials purchases:

In-person: Provide requests to the acquisitions librarian, the reference librarian on duty, or a circulation staff member.

Campus mail: Send a completed Recommendation for Library Form (available from the Acquisitions Department) or initialed Choice Cards to the acquisitions librarian.

For any questions about your requests, please contact the Acquisitions Department at 601.877.6354, or your Departmental Library Liaison.
